ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED

  • Take orders from customers and confirm on time fulfillment
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments to ensure timely customer deliveries
  • Plan effective delivery routes and assign drivers for best possible scheduled deliveries
  • Build customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitor truck movements and internal/external conditions affecting movements and ensure appropriate actions are taken to meet driver and public safety as well as customer demands
  • Liaison to drivers, report with top management
  • Dispatch drivers, equipment and personnel to customer requests in accordance with established company policy and procedures

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the supervision of drivers
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and evaluate/direct calls to appropriate personnel
  • Obey all company safety, regulatory and compliance policies
  • Must work well in a team environment

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or a candidate in their last year of a Post-Secondary degree program in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations is preferred but not required

Summary

The Driver Manager is responsible for the activities of drivers to maximize productivity, while assuring prompt and effective service to customers. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following - Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitoring, tracking and dispatching all direct report drivers
  • Maintain accurate data in the driver communication device
    • Accurate mileage
    • Alignment of all start and stop locations
    • Maintain X-calls from drivers with all accuracy
    • Manage drivers ETA’s, PTA’s, and RTA’s
    • Handle payroll inquiries and work to resolve issues for drivers
  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive work relationship with drivers
    • Keep track of driver routes
    • Contact customer service when detentions occur and work to keep drivers moving, not sitting
    • Monitor the number of hours each driver has in to avoid out-of-hours violations
    • Monitor driver utilization and drivers' length of day
  • Complete all Quarterly Reviews with drivers timely
  • Complete all Quarterly DOT requirements for drivers timely
  • Maintain timely, accurate and courteous customer service with internal customers and external customers
  • Track drivers throughout the day and promptly notify customer service of any issue that will potentially impact service to our customers
    • Notate any service issues accurately within TMW
  • Resolve issues as they occur, work with team members when uncertain of the correct resolution, and when taking matters to the customer provide a solution along with the situation
  • Coordinate load assignments for drivers with planners
  • Work to ensure all preventative maintenance is completed on time for all CTS equipment
    • Facilitate truck swaps when necessary
  • Job dedication; work scheduled hours, arrive on time and leave when the work is complete
  • Attention to details
  • Track down missing paperwork
  • Provide disciplinary actions to drivers when needed to include discussing impacts to his/her PFP
  • Be part of a team that works to maintain driver and avoid driver turn-over
  • Handle and manage all of driver payroll
    • Audit, review, and approve timecards
    • Maintain payroll documents and spreadsheets
    • Approve and decline vacation requests
    • Distribute statements
    • Resolve all payroll discrepancies
    • Respond to employee inquiries
    • Calculate bonuses
    • Review wages and payroll compliance
